Catholic Health Care in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Catholic Health Association (PCHA), founded in 1963, is a statewide organization whose membership is composed of Catholic hospitals, long-term care facilities, multi-facility health systems and other related health care entities, sponsoring religious congregations, and dioceses.

Our Vision

PCHA is a catalyst that enables the Catholic health ministry to continue and strengthen its vital role as Christ's healing presence in the mission of the Church and communities served.

The following strategic directions complement and animate this vision.

PCHA's leadership and advocacy serve to:

Provide a unified voice in public policy at the state level.
Gain access to basic, quality health care for all.
Protect the integrity and conscience of Catholic health care providers, Catholic employers, Catholic-affiliated insurers and others, as their interests are guided by the ethical and moral teachings of the Church.
Achieve increased collaboration with the bishops of Pennsylvania and diocesan entities.

Our Purpose

PCHA provides:

A forum for communication and advocacy coordination within the Catholic health care ministry in Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference with expert advice on public policy and other matters pertaining to health care.

Our Mission

PCHA will provide support for the Catholic health care community in Pennsylvania through Gospel witness in advocacy, communication, education and united action. PCHA;s Gospel witness advocates for and speaks out in defense of the sanctity of life and justice in health care, recognizing the particular needs of children, the elderly, the poor, and the underserved.
