LEGISLATURE HONORS CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

(Harrisburg – Jan. 30)  - The Pennsylvania General Assembly honored Pennsylvania’s Catholic Schools yesterday with resolutions recognizing Catholic Schools Week, January 28 – February 3, 2007. Rep. William Adolph (R-Philadelphia) with 88 co-sponsors and Sen. Robert T. Regola, III (R-Westmoreland) with 35 co-sponsors introduced similar resolutions, which were adopted by the House and Senate, respectively.

The resolutions (House Resolution 31 and Senate Resolution 15) recognize the more than 180,000 elementary and secondary school students who are educated in Pennsylvania’s Catholic schools annually and notes that Catholic schools save taxpayers more than $1 billion each year.          The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools: The Good News in Education.”
