PENNSYLVANIA CATHOLIC CONFERENCE APPLAUDS SUPREME COURT PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION RULE

HARRISBURG (April 19) – The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference (PCC) is applauding yesterday’s ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court which upholds the 2003 ban on partial birth abortion.  But officials say their fight for the pro-life cause is not yet over.

Dr. Robert J. O’Hara, Jr., Executive Director of the PCC said, “The Supreme Court’s ruling on partial birth abortion is encouraging.  We will celebrate the ruling as a victory for the pro-life movement, but with cautious optimism.   Thousands of babies still lose their lives to abortion every day in the United States.  Our effort to pass laws which uphold the dignity of every human life from conception to natural death in every case must continue.”

The PCC is the public affairs agency of the Catholic Church in Pennsylvania.  The Conference is comprised of the Bishops of the Commonwealth’s eight Roman Catholic Dioceses and two Byzantine Catholic dioceses.  More information about PCC is available at www.pacatholic.org.
